There is no doubt that your Bubzilla Sling
will become an integral aid for your early parenting years.
But like changing your first nappy the art of
wearing your baby will require a little practice, so don't be discouraged if
your first few attempts are unsuccessful as a little persistence will soon
pay off.
Wearing your Bubzilla Sling
-
Place the sling over your head and onto
your shoulder with the opening at the front
-
Ensure the sling is flat across your back
and that the seam is positioned near your navel
-
Place your baby on your chest the opposite
shoulder to the sling, securely holding your baby with one hand use the
other hand to open the pouch
-
Slide your baby into the pouch on its back,
keeping one hand on the baby’s bottom to position it on the seam (the
deepest part of the pouch)
-
Never let go of your baby until you are
confident it is securely in the sling
-
For premature and small babies you can fold
the sling in half at the shoulder, this will decrease the depth of the
pouch OR you can pop in a towel until your baby gains some size. Place the

Lookout Position

Like a favourite pair of jeans, once you have worn in and tamed your sling
you will soon work out which holds work best for you and your baby.
Get Moving’
As soon as your baby is securely
in the sling, start moving, this way your baby will settle into the sling
quickly as baby will associate the movement in the sling with the security
and movement of the womb.
Lookout
Position
(between
4 & 6 months and onwards)
-
Once your
baby has developed strong head control, you may find that they prefer to
face forwards. This also works better if your baby stiffens or arches
their back with the more conventional hold.
-
To find out if
this is the best position for your baby, practice carrying them this way
without the sling to start. If there is no protest, place them in the
sling facing forwards.
-
Putting one arm
through, place the sling over your head, and adjust the seam so it is
sitting in the centre of your tummy.
-
Then resting your
baby against your chest with one hand underneath their bottom, use your
free hand to create an opening in the sling and slide your baby into the
pouch. Generally their legs would be crossed in front of them but some
prefer to have their legs protruding out of the front of the sling.
